A weekend trip for Dallas Peak from Denver? That’s a crazy bunch of driving for one summit. So Ryan and I looked for some new mountains somewhere sort of en route, and landed on the Truros, which most place in the Sawatch though one old CMC book I have considers them part of the Elks. Kevin K and I drove over Independence Pass, then north/east on Hwy 82 to the turn for the Lincoln Gulch 4×4 road to Anderson Lake, where we roused Ryan from his dreamland. Keep reading…

The Journey Above 14K: The Colorado 14ers

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dillon. I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Colorado at the end of 2010. I like chicken, diet soda, beer, and greek yogurt. I’m an accountant, but still think taxes are evil. I didn’t find my mountain wife on top of one of these 14er’s, but am still holding out hope. AND I really hate my snowshoes. Colorado simply never gets old. The more I get out there the more I realize how truly incredible our state is, and the more I’m left wondering what’s up next to explore. June, July, and August have been busy months for my wife and I, but amidst taking care of the never ending stream of life errands and embarking on a refreshing trip to Central America that I’m proud to say had absolutely nothing to do with mountains whatsoever, I was able to get out a few times and explore some new areas around our great state (new to me, that is). Kelso Mountain Ski: An After Work Outing

What: Kelso North Couloir. When: June 5, 2013. Who: Ben and Rick. How: Parked at the base of the couloir where the run out hits the road.
